You can create paper prototypes as well as computer-based interactive prototypes. Creating these prototypes should be quick, not final design. The prototype is given to users who are told the story (realistic) and then given the task to perform using the product (prototype). As soon as the user begins to take action on the prototype, everything is documented (deviations from the red line – specific locations where unwanted actions were observed). It is desirable for the user to “think aloud”, which allows them to record what emotions and thoughts the user has at the time of use. You can create an Empaty Map and a User Journey & Emotion Map by gathering all the information.

To create a convenient transition between sections and find information faster, you can create cards with section titles and distribute them to potential users, who will rank them in groups and subgroups. This way you can group any information.
This investigation requires 5-20 users to group the cards. The results should be summarized and appropriate conclusions drawn (observe which variants are repetitive or similar).

Such cards are created and compiled by the information architect. It is also the responsibility of the Information Architect to maintain a consistent style between button names, definition of category names, etc.
In fact, the only and successful ways of organizing information are by using the following parameters:

Objectively – geographically, alphabetically, chronologically, volume / size;

Subjectively – categories, volumes / size / popularity.

Let’s look at user research that can be done before designing interfaces and products.

Before starting a project it is necessary to know the end user, its habits, experience in using the computer and software, the conditions under which the product will be used, etc. parameters that are relevant to the successful use of the product.

Queastionnaire points:

Context Usage:
User Goals;
System environment – additional aids, physical factor, social factor.

User Features:
Knowledge and experience;
Cultural differences and language;
Height characteristics;
Visualization properties;
Age;
Gender, etc.

It is possible to find out these parameters in direct end-user interviews, as well as by sending anecdotes with precisely prepared questions

Questionnaires may include:

Recommendations;
Expressing the image;
Product evaluation;
Functional issues;
Questions about who is preferred;
Facilitation offers;
There may be issues in comparative form, such as comparing designs and design solutions.
** Questions that may provide biased information should be avoided, as conclusions can be misconceived when analyzing results.

UX design (user experience) is a process that involves user interaction with the product and all its manifestations.

The purpose of the UX design is to achieve increased usability. It is directly related to the end-users who will use the product (human-centred design). Therefore, in order to improve the usability of a particular product, it is necessary to conduct end-user surveys, to enable them to perform various tasks in order to obtain the necessary information for developing an interface.

As a result of UX improvements, progress can be measured by:

– Ease of use of the product (use of various accepted and user-friendly techniques for developing graphical interfaces, eg ISO 9241 standard – facilitates successful expression of user assumptions with the interface);

– Product uptake speed;

– What it does to the user.

UX design is very different from UI design. The above directly describes the user understanding and design of the graphical interface based on the user characteristics. The UI design is responsible for the visual appearance, contrast and all the visual material present in the graphical interface (these are not user action scenarios but a visual representation of the product).

Red Routes

It is important to be aware of the main goals of the product so that they are simple and obvious. The main destinations are defined as red routes. These are the red lines that allow the user of the product to achieve the desired result. Red lines can be multiple, for example, if a product provides multiple services or functions. There must be self-evident “paths” that lead to the desired goal. If there are multiple red lines, they should not intersect if they are not directly linked. The goal of the user must be direct and not inconsistent. The user must be aware of where they are, where they are, and know what will follow next – as soon as an important milestone is omitted, the usability level drops and needs to be improved.
